As Halloween draws near, we're excited to present spooky fun and learning for the whole family 🎃👻! This event offers a unique blend of captivating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) activities for kids, and an optional French pastry baking masterclass for adults! Children are also permitted to participate in the baking class with their parents for FREE! The STEM activities and pastry workshops start and end at the same time. You can freely move between the two spaces.
👩🔬 Young Engineers STEM Activity 👩🔬
Not mandatory if you only want to join the baking workshop.
Recognized for its excellence by the Harvard School of Education, this engaging STEM program will keep your little ones enthralled with exciting engineering challenges and creative problem-solving activities. They will be busy with learning, laughter, and making new friends as they build robotic zombies and goblins!
However, if your young ones are curious about the world of baking, they are more than welcome to join the baking classes (see below) at no charge. Or, they can move back and forth between the two classes (at your discretion) to enjoy both!
STEM Activity Fee:
Child #1: 3,000 yen (about $20)
Child #2: 2,000 yen (about $15)
Child #3 or more: 1,500 yen each (about $10)
Target age: 1st to 8th grade
Maximum 16 kids accepted.
Children 13yrs to adults can participate FREE with a child 12yrs and under.
NOTE: Kids below 1st grade must work together with an adult or a sibling at least 10 years old.
👻 Pastry Master Classes 👻
Not mandatory if you only want to join the STEM workshop.
This event begins a series of hands-on baking classes led by the award-winning Yuko McCollum of Rustic Bake House. Yuko recently relocated to Okinawa this year from Los Angeles, where she received multiple awards from competitions judged by LA’s best chefs, journalists from LA Times, NY Times, as well as Jonathan Gold, famous American food critic.
For Halloween, you'll make Ghostly marshmallow pumpkin cupcakes, Creepy spider oatmeal cookies, and Wicked spider web cake!
Yuko will teach you not only how to make the treats in the images above, but also how to make marshmallows completely from scratch! Pick up these awesome skills to use for a lifetime, that you can also pass down to your children!
We will be collaborating with Yuko on a series of upcoming Bake & STEM events for you to explore the art of French pastry making. Yuko will be teaching classes such as Baking Fundamentals, Delightful Desserts, Holiday Themed Pastries, and more!
No need to bring anything, as she will provide all the ingredients and tools you'll need. Just don't forget to wear your favorite apron and bring containers to carry home your ghoulish goodies! Each family will take home about a dozen treats that they’ve made!
Baking Class Fee:
Adult #1: 5,000 yen (about $35)
Adult #2 or more: 2,500 yen each (about $15)
(Children age 0 to 17 can join adults for FREE!)
NOTE: We may pair solo adult participants to share one cooking station with another solo participant. However, each will receive their own ingredients, materials, and make a dozen treats each.
Participants registering as a couple or family/friends will be placed together at one station, sharing ingredients, materials, and making a dozen treats as a group.
